About

Born in the Italian region of Abruzzo, Marioenrico D'Angelo is a freelance choreographer, dance teacher, and performer based in Bern, Switzerland. Marioenrico has created choreographies for several professional companies and theaters, including Bern Ballett, Daegu City Dance Company South Korea, MiR Dance Company Gelsenkirchen, Saarländisches Staatsballett Saarbruecken, Frontier Danceland Singapore, Theater für Niedersachsen Hildesheim, V-create, and Equilibrio Dinamico Dance Company. He has also choreographed for professional schools and pre-professional dance programs, like DAF Dance Arts Faculty in Rome, and CoLab by The Link in Bern.

In 2024 Marioenrico was selected as a Next Steps Artist by St. Gallen Dance Company (CH), Bern Ballett (CH), and Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival Steps (CH).

Professional experience as a choreographer:

2024 - 2026 / St. Gallen Dance Company (CH), Bern Ballett (CH), and Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival Steps (CH) selected Marioenrico for the pilot project Next Steps.
In 2025, as a Next Steps Artist, Marioenrico will choreograph for Bern Ballett (CH), as part of the triple bill evening Zwielichter. In 2026, Marioenrico will create a new work for St. Gallen Dance Company (CH).

2024 / Tightrope: choreographed for the students of the academy DAF Dance Arts Faculty in Rome (IT)

2024 / Will the Feelings Leave: 9 minutes choreography created for Bern Ballett by Bühnen Bern (CH)

2024 / Era de Maggio: choreography created for a double bill evening by the pre-professional program CoLab, The Link, Bern (CH)

2023 / Was uns hält: one hour long original creation for MiR Dance Company Gelsenkirchen (DE)

2023 / Prelude: 2nd prize winner at the 37 International Choreographic Competition Hannover

2022 / Grace: original creation for Saarländisches Staatsballett Saarbruecken (DE), as part of the double bill evening Aufbrüche

2022 / Afterthought won the fifth prize in the 21 Burgos and New York International Choreography Contest, as well as the prize offered by Martín Padrón and the Choreographic Center La Gomera

2022 / Dekarnation: full-length evening produced by V-Create Bern (CH), realized with Sophie Vergères and Max Levy

2022 / Força Estranha: choreographed for the students of the academy DAF Dance Arts Faculty in Rome (IT)

2021 / Medea: full-length dance evening co-created with Marguerite Donlon for Theater für Niedersachsen Hildesheim (DE)

2019 / Skinny Dipping: original creation for Frontier Danceland Singapore (SG), included in the double bill evening MILIEU

2018 / Phersu-na: choreography commissioned by Think Big artist residency program, Ballet of the State Opera Hannover, and TANZtheater International (DE).

2018 - 2014 / annual participation in the evening SubsTanz of Saarlandisches Staatstheater Saarbrucken, for which Baustelle (2018), Blue Screen (2017), Swept Under (2016), Azulejos (2015), and Do you like my Flowers? (2014) were created.

2017 / PAN: choreographic solo created for Jin Young Won for the Festival KOTID Frankfurt am Main (DE).

2013 / Stipo A: original creation for Equilibrio Dinamico Dance Company (IT).
